What is Smile House again? Let me refresh your memory! Smile House is a transition home in the making. It has 3 floors, plus a full size basement. The top floor is divided into two separate apartments. Our director Doug lives in one of those apartments with his wife and two kids and two cats. One of his cats likes to eat olives. I think that is strange for a cat.
The 2nd apartment on the 3rd floor is just a small, one room studio where Daniel and I are temporarily living while we finish the rest of Smile House. We have no cats. I like to eat olives, though.
The 2nd floor will be the transition home part. We are working hard to finish it by fall. Our goal is to invite kids from Komrivka, the orphanage we have a relationship with, to come live at Smile House this fall. We have lots to do before then! Here are some pictures of the 2nd floor and the progress we have made.

The is the view coming in from the stairwell. We kind of need a door, and a doorknocker.
Look at the last picture. If you go to the left, you be in Anya's room. Her room is completely done! In the back of the picture is an archway (sort of); if you go through it you will be in....
Marina's room! She's Anya's nurse, and this is where she has been staying. Her room is done except for the balcony and water slide escape route.
At the end of Marina's room is the bathroom, and it is also finished, hooray!
Isn't is a nice bathroom? The secret tunnel that leads to the treasury is in this room, but I will not tell you where.
Go back to picture #1. If you go to the right, you will be in the dining room. This room is done except for baseboard!
To the left of the dining room is the living room, and as far as rooms go, this one is very pleasant. It's nice and spacious with lots of windows, but it would be better if it had a bouncy house. Daniel says no. If you disagree with Daniel, please sign my petition.
At the end of the dining room is the kitchen. We set up a temporary situation for Marina and Anya, but this is our next biggest project. A few days ago Daniel got all the cabinet materials, and we bought a fridge, stove, and hood last month. It should be coming together soon!
To the right of the dining room is where you will see the handsomest man in the world. Also there is a hallway with all the bathrooms. This is the main room; it has 3 showers and places for sinks. And already the tile is covering this entire room. What's that blue thing on the left?
Graffiti. I will hunt down whoever did this and punish him/her severely. Brad, if that was you, you're exempt. I know how you feel about Daniel.
There are three little rooms like this in the hallway; they are the future homes of toilets. The bathroom needs the most work, apart from the kitchen, and therefore where our focus will be (when its not on each other).
If you go through the hallway, you will find yourself in paradise. Oh wait, wrong hallway. These are the bedrooms/study rooms/etc. There are 3 rooms that are connected to each other.
There is a secret tunnel in this room that leads to the armory, and consequently, where Doug stashes all his pitchforks.
These three rooms just need some cleaning. The windows are especially filthy. The end.
That's the 2nd floor of Smile House! I hope you enjoyed your tour! As you can see, we have quite a bit of work to do, but we're making progress! We have some potential houseparents that are in the interview process, and a few of the girls at the orphanage are interested in living here this fall! Please pray that God will give us direction; that we get the right house parents and the right girls at the right time! Thank you. And don't forget to sign my petition.
